#AYearAThon June 2015 Finish/Catch Up • Day #7 & Wrap-Up

Day #7 & Wrap-Up

Last day of the read-a-thon and even though it wasn't my best day, overall I think I did a not bad job. I'm happy with the amount of reading I did, though I didn't complete all the books I planned to read.

I enjoyed myself throughout the #AYearAThon that I will definitely be continuing every month.
Bring on July, I'm ready for you.

#AYearAThon June 2015 Finish/Catch Up • Day #5

Day #5

The good thing about car trips (especially long ones), and you are the passenger, it gives you a lot of time to just sit there and read.
I only read three hours today but I got a lot of reading done

City Of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare - Review

Book Four

Synopsis

Simon, Daylighter vampire teen is protected by the Mark of Cain, a pillar of fire from Heaven blazes attackers into salt, but an enemy gets at him through his first love Clary, who must face consequences, and maybe lose Jace. A Greater Demon infects nights of her Shadowhunter beloved for control, and sends grey-garbed minions for Simon himself.

Review

Again another great instalment in the Mortal Instrument series. I don't know how Cassandra Clare does it, draws you in and doesn't let you go. What can I say, I was once again fangirling.

What was also great was the different point of views from a variety of characters. Mainly from Simon, Clary and Jace, but also a glimpse of other characters minds and actions.

Of course nothing is peachy and happily ever after, there is a lot more problems these guys need to face. Especially Simon, which was refreshing to see what he is going through since he became a vampire and the mark of Cain.

Even though Clary is growing up and accepting of what she truly is, I found her sometimes to have that immature streak. I have nothing against people crying, but when it becomes excessive I tend to lose my mind.
Yes her and Jaces' relationship isn't perfect, but whose is? I hope to see more maturity from her in the final two books, or something border line of that. Maybe just no more crying and I would be happy.

There is something else I wanted to discuss, but I'm trying to keep this spoiler free as possible. Just the mention of this characters name blares Spoiler Alert. So if you have read it and want to know what I am talking about, you can leave a comment below, or check out my updates on Goodreads.

My star rating for City Of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare is:

#AYearAThon June 2015 Finish/Catch Up • Day #3

Day #3
Today, even though it was my busiest so far, I got a lot more reading done. It might of been my determination to finish the book, or it could be the inability to put it down.
Either way I love this series. It gets better and better and the series continues.

I'm happy to say, onto the next book.

Day #1

First day and it wasn't too bad. Of course I wished to read more than I wanted to, but considering it was a public holiday and there were things to do around the house, I read more than I thought I was going to.

Bring on day 2. Which is also my birthday :)

King Arthur: The Bloody Cup by M.K. Hume - Review

Book Three

Synopsis

For many years, the people of Briton have enjoyed peace and prosperity under the reign of King Artor and the Union of Kings. Having spurned the despotism of his predecessor, Uther Pendragon, Arthur has ruled with a strong sense of duty, goodness and honour.

Artor is now weakening with age, however, and the seeds of discontent are being sown. Seeking to cleanse the land of Christian belief, dissenters need a symbol with which to legitimise their pagan claim and gather malcontents together into a cohesive weapon. These shadowy, subversive elements seize upon the ancient cup of Bishop Lucius of Glastonbury as a way of fragmenting Artor’s hard-fought-for kingdom. But first, they must lay their hands on the relic and, in doing so, unleash a force for evil from which murder and violent mayhem ensue.

But it emerges that the ultimate threat to Artor’s rule lies far closer to home; Artor is betrayed by kin. Celt will slay Celt and the river will run with blood.

Review

What a brilliant conclusion to an amazing trilogy. I will try my best not to spoil anything for you if you have not yet read this series. Which by the way you should.

It took me a while to finally pick up the final book, and it took me even longer to finish. I knew it was going to end up in tears with most, if not all, of my favourite characters dead. So in my mind, if I prolonged it then it wouldn't be as painful....how wrong I was.
King Artor is now in his 60s, and if you are familiar with Arthurian folklore, then you will know what is about to happen. Last battle, everyone killed, tears, etc.
There were too many occasions when I had to put this book down after a character died. Not another one was all I was thinking.

I enjoyed reading the journey of Artor from childhood to old age, the things he has seen and what he needed to do to keep the peace with his people. I couldn't do what he did.
I've never read a character development like this before, been with him from start to end.

I wish I could say more on this book and how much I love it. But like I said earlier, I don't want to give any spoilers away.
Please, if you have not yet picked this trilogy up, do it. There are only a few books out there that I highly recommend and this is one of them.

I will definitely be picking up more of M.K. Hume in the future. Which I heard recently there is a sequel series to King Arthur, now that would be very interesting to read.

My star rating for King Arthur: The Bloody Cup by M.K. Hume is:
(no surprises)
